Transportation Information

The Lakeland Catholic School District will begin our very own Bus Transportation Service for the 2012-2013 school year! We have been diligently preparing for this opportunity, and are excited and ready to provide a quality and efficient bus transportation system to all students of Lakeland Catholic Schools.

Our transportation system provides busing to our students every school day. Busing is free for all students who live 2.4 km or further from the school that they attend. In-town busing is also available for those students who live within 2.4 km of their school at a yearly fee, set by transportation services. Zone maps that show each school's 2.4 km radius will be available shortly to allow you to see where your residence falls. Distance is measured by the shortest road between your residence and your designated school.

Fees for the 2012-2013 school year will be available by May 30th, at which time, we can begin to accept registrations for next year. The current fees for 2011-2012 can be found under "Transportation Fees" on the left-side menu.

Attendance Boundaries

We expect students to attend their local school and have established attendance areas for transportation purposes and for effective use of school facilities. Lakeland Catholic believes the responsibility for busing students to and from a student's local school - within these specific attendance boundaries - rests with us.

Therefore, we expect parents/guardians to provide their own transportation when students attend a school that is outside their attendance area. There are some exceptions, and we encourage you to read the "School of Choice" section under the "fees" tab for more information.

Inclement Weather

School buses will not run when:

The wind-chill equals or exceeds -50 degrees Celcius at 4 Wing Cold Lake or Smoky Lake; or
The outside air temperature equals or exceeds -40 degrees Celcius at 4 Wing Cold Lake or Smoky Lake.

Cancellations will be communicated on this website, under "Bus Schedule", and on the radio stations indicated in the Transportation Brochure (available May 30th).
